Grace and Dignity on track for Glorious Song Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Unbeaten 2-year-old filly Grace and Dignity will make her next start in the $100,000 Glorious Song Stakes over seven furlongs on Tapeta on Nov. 19, trainer Catherine Day Phillips said.

Grace and Dignity debuted with a 5 1/2-length victory over six furlongs on Tapeta on Sept. 16, and followed with a 5 1/4-length victory in an allowance at the same distance on Oct. 18. In the allowance win, Grace and Dignity covered six furlongs in 1:08.77, earning an 83 Beyer Speed Figure.

“She’s so fast,” Day Phillips said. “She’s doing really well. She’s come out of her race well and she’s maintained her pretty calm disposition, which is great for a filly that’s so fast.”

Grace and Dignity will stretch out to seven furlongs for the first time in the Glorious Song, but Day Phillips said she isn’t concerned about the added distance.

“I think she’s pretty relaxed,” she said. “She’s just naturally this fast, but she’s also just very content to sit beside other horses in the mornings, so I’m hoping that will still be the case. If that is, then she’ll just cruise along. She galloped-out very strong in her allowance race. Obviously, with changing distances you hope she’ll be able to handle it, but I don’t see why she wouldn’t.”
