Goulding: Pick four play for Woodbine for Sunday, Sept. 14
RACE 8
Going to take a stand on BATTLE FOR GOLD (No. 8). He was an impressive winner of his last two sprints on the main track last year and came back with a decent effort running over turf in his only start this year. JAGGER M (No. 13) is dropping and will appreciate the easier company.
A: 8
B: 13
RACE 9
DECEPTIVE VISION (No. 3) doesn’t need to be on the lead like she was when she lost by a nose in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly. She’s the key player, but INDUSTRIAL POLICY (No. 9) should appreciate the shape of the race, and I’ll use her at equal strength. LEXIE LOU (No. 2) is facing open company after an impressive string of wins with Canadian-breds and might be good enough. SOLID APPEAL (No. 10) can win this if she brings her best stuff, and LA TIA (No. 8) could be dangerous if the turf favors speed, which it often does. SAVVY HESTER (No. 4) has improved in her last two starts on turf.
A: 3, 9
B: 2
C: 4, 8, 10
RACE 10
DIAMONDS ARE B F F (No. 1A) adds blinkers and should appreciate the move back to a sprint on the main track. I’M JUST SAYIN (No. 7) is an obvious contender and should be part of the “A” plays. LADY DIBA (No. 3) is heading in a positive direction. I’ll use her, VIRREINA (No. 2), and NATURAL BLONDE (No. 8) as “B’s”. I SCREAM SUNDAY (No. 10) could also sneak in there.
A: 1, 7
B: 2, 3, 8
C: 10

RACE 11
KAIGUN (No. 5) won’t mind the added distance following his win going seven furlongs in the Grade 2 Play the King. GRAND ARCH (No. 11) likes it here and is coming off a solid effort in the Grade 2 Fourstardave at Saratoga. They look like the main players. JACK MILTON (No. 9) and TRADE STORM (No. 2), who got off to a poor start when he finished third in this race last year, will be used as “B’s.” DORSETT (No. 6) comes off a solid effort in the Fourstardave. LOCKOUT (No. 7) just missed to Kaigun and isn’t out of the realm of possibilities.
A: 5, 11
B: 2, 9
C: 6, 7
