On what looks like it could be a chalky day at Del Mar, I like AUNTY PEARL at what should be a decent price in the last race and will use her as a key component in the pick four. Race 7: (10) FINEST CITY is clearly the horse to beat. She is coming off as strong debut and has worked well in the interim. (3) LILY POD could improve enough with the blinkers going on. (5) PONDER LEA has been working well enough for a trainer who can have them ready to roll first time out. Race 8: (4) BAL A BALI and (2) TALCO are the obvious horses in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile. I’ll also use (8) WINNING PRIZE, who won the Grade 1 Frank E. Kilroe last year and is trending in a positive direction. Race 9:  (3) SWEETRAYOFSUNSHINE gets a slight nod over (4) GLORYZAPPER and (8) EXPOSURE. Sweetrayofsunshine has won more than half of her 15 starts and could take a big step forward in her second start back following a sharp win in her comeback race. Race 10: (9) AUNTY PEARL has just one start this year but her turf races in New York last year were solid and she makes her first start for trainer Bill Spawr, who has excellent numbers in all the relevant categories. She could be tough to catch if she breaks alertly in her first start on the West Coast. (3) WITH A TWIST has six wins on grass and has worked decently leading up to her first start for Bob Hess, who is having a solid meet. (6) REDRESSTHEBALANCE came up short in her first start following a layoff and figures to improve with a race behind her. :: See Randy Goulding’s pick four play in DRF TicketMaker and bet it with DRF Bets
