Got Stormy's weight assignment lowered to 122 pounds for Turf Sprint

FRANKLIN, Ky. – The weight assignment for Got Stormy in the Turf Sprint on Saturday at Kentucky Downs has been adjusted from 125 pounds to 122 after racing officials credited her with an industry-standard three-pound allowance that goes to a filly or mare facing male rivals. She was listed at 125 on the Saturday overnight.
Got Stormy, fresh off a victory in the Grade 1 Fourstardave at Saratoga for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse, will be turning back from a mile to six furlongs.
Also, racing secretary Tyler Picklesimer said qualifying conditions will be reviewed for some stakes here next year after In Good Spirits, a graded-placed filly, was relegated to the also-eligibles list for the Mint Ladies Sprint on Saturday in favor of Our Musical Moment, who will be a huge longshot. Our Musical Moment has preference as the winner of a dirt-sprint stakes for Iowa-breds in July 2019.
Major renovations ongoing
Horsemen and fans who haven’t been to Kentucky Downs in the last year surely will notice numerous improvements to the sprawling facility. Besides the many upgrades in the building that houses the Historical Horse Racing machines that fuel a massive purse structure, other upgrades include an air-conditioned trackside chalet, large signage surrounding the race course, and much more, not counting a huge crater adjacent to the track where a hotel will soon be erected.

Perhaps most importantly, the turf itself has undergone an extensive renovation with new sod and an inner-railing scheme that purports to prevent the course from getting worn out from overuse.
