Got Stormy supplemented to Fourstardave but more likely for Woodbine Mile

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The connections of Got Stormy were so impressed by the way their filly drew off to win Saturday’s De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga that they turned right around and made her a supplemental nominee for Saturday’s Grade 1 Fourstardave.
Got Stormy was well held during the early stages of the one-mile De La Rose by jockey Tyler Gaffalione, advanced readily to the lead while still in reserve into the stretch, then exploded to an easy victory once set down for the final furlong, winning by four lengths as the 2-1 favorite. Got Stormy had been graded stakes-placed in her two previous starts, the Grade 1 Jenny Wiley and Grade 2 Distaff Turf Mile.
“I didn’t realize when I was watching the race on Saturday how easily she won,” said Mark Casse, who trains Got Stormy for the partnership of Gary Barber and Southern Equine Stables. “Tyler was hand-riding her most of the way he was so confident.”

Got Stormy was assigned 114 pounds for the Fourstardave, although Casse said it is unlikely she’d wheel back in a week.
“We’ll take a look, but more likely her next start will be the Woodbine Mile,” said Casse on Sunday. “She’s gotten so much better, but obviously it’s a little too soon. I don’t have a problem trying the colts, I just worry about bringing her back in a week. Even though she won easily yesterday, it was a little hot.”
The Grade 1 Woodbine Mile, which has had a purse increase to $1 million in 2019, will be decided on Sept. 14. Got Stormy won her only previous start at Woodbine, the Grade 3 Ontario Colleen, also at a mile, during her 3-year-old campaign.
