Got Stormy to skip Del Mar Oaks

DEL MAR, Calif. – Got Stormy, the winner of three consecutive turf stakes since early June, will not fly from Saratoga for Saturday’s Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks, trainer Mark Casse said on Wednesday.
“I had planned to send her but I thought she was a little on the flat side in the last few days,” he said. “I’m not going to fly her to California if I’m not 100 percent happy with her. I was kind of looking forward to going out there.”
Owned by Gary Barber, Got Stormy has won 4 of 8 starts. She has won turf stakes at Penn National, Belmont Park, and Woodbine in her last three starts. Casse said Got Stormy will be considered for the $200,000 Indiana Grand Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at a mile on Sept. 5.
The $300,000 Del Mar Oaks at 1 1/8 miles on turf has a projected field of 12. Ollie’s Candy, second in the Grade 2 San Clemente Stakes at Del Mar on July 21, is a leading contender along with Paved, winner of the Grade 2 Honeymoon Stakes at Santa Anita on June 9.
Other expected starters are Animosity, Californiagoldrush, Colonia, Fatale Bere, Fool’s Paradise, Movie Moment, Ms Bad Behavior, Ms Peintour, So Hi Society, and Streetwithnoname.
