Gorgeous Ginny likes the grass in Jeff and Jack Coady Sr.

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Gorgeous Ginny ($2.20), the overwhelming favorite despite racing on grass for the first time, had no trouble with the footing and proved best in Sunday’s Jeff and Jack Coady Sr. at Turf Paradise.
Owned by Randy Howg and trained by Robertino Diodoro, the 3-year-old daughter of Take Charge Indy broke sharply from the rail in the about 7 1/2-furlong race, went right to the lead under Glenn Corbett, took pressure from longshot Mighty Ghostly, dispatched that foe on the far turn, was then challenged by I’m the Queen into the lane before edging away to win by 2 1/2 lengths.
I’m the Queen stalked the pace, challenged the winner into the lane before succumbing to that foe, ending up a clear second. City Spirit stalked and ran on for third in the field of seven. The race was marred as longshot Upsidedwnpineapple broke down and fell in the lane. Sadly she had to be euthanized.
Gorgeous Ginny ran the distance in 1:30.27. The winner’s share of $15,190 pushes her earnings to $97,446 from three wins in five starts.
