Goodyearforroses makes Flaming Page her first stakes win

Michael Burns Goodyearforroses wins the Flaming Page Stakes, her first non-turf start.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Goodyearforroses ($3.80) notched her first stakes Saturday at Woodbine in the $105,000 Flaming Page, which was moved from the grass to the Tapeta at the last minute due to early afternoon rain.

Goodyearforroses rallied wide from fourth to prevail by three lengths over another Roger Attfield-trained 4-year-old, Dyna’s Recoleta.

Interject closed belatedly for third, and was followed by Secret Action, Villa Savoye, Belle de Nuit - who set a slow pace before tiring - and McArthur Parkway.

The final time for the 12-furlong marathon was 2:32.61.

It was a record sixth Flaming Page victory for Attfield, who owns Goodyearforroses in partnership with Lincoln Collins. The European import earned $60,000 in her first non-turf start, which boosted her bankroll to $158,407.
