Good Deed will ship to Gulfstream for Ladies Turf Sprint

Good Deed, a sharp winner in two turf sprints at the Fair Grounds meet, will ship to Gulfstream Park for her next start, the $75,000 Ladies Turf Sprint on the Feb. 21 Fountain of Youth card.
Good Deed, a 6-year-old mare, returned from a layoff to set a 5 1/2-furlong course record of 1:02.31 over fast-playing Fair Grounds grass in a Dec. 10 allowance race. Back in action Jan. 10, she won the Pan Zareta Stakes by 2 1/4 lengths, running right back to the 97 Beyer she had earned in the allowance.
“The stakes at Gulfstream is the logical spot for her,” said trainer Steve Margolis. “As long as she’s doing well, that’s where we’ll go.”
Sum of the Parts retired
The 6-year-old Sum of the Parts has been privately purchased and retired to stud for this breeding season in Louisiana at Jay Adcock’s River Ridge Farms.
Sum of the Parts was claimed for $40,000 on Nov. 29 by owner-trainer Karl Broberg from trainer Tom Amoss and owners Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence. He started once after the claim, finishing sixth in a Dec. 11 turf-sprint allowance race, before being sold for breeding.
By Speightstown and out of Enjoy the Moment, Sum of the Parts won 9 of 26 starts and purses totaling $876,129. Amoss called him the fastest horse from the gate he ever trained, and Sum of the Parts set the pace and finished a close fourth in the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Sprint
