Gone and Forgotten drew clear in the lane to score a repeat victory in the $50,000 Arctic Queen Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares on Monday at Finger Lakes.
Gone and Forgotten ($4.70), sent away favored in the field of six, had a fairly uncomplicated trip in the six-furlong race. She raced with Curly Girl about three lengths back as Queen Arella led through an opening half of 46.86 seconds on the fast track.
At the quarter pole, Luis Perez gave favored Gone and Forgotten her cue and she moved wide and in the clear to quickly reel in Queen Arella. She drove clear in the final eighth to hit the wire 1 3/4 lengths in front, stopping the clock in 1:12.81.
Curly Girl finished well to edge Queen Arella by a half-length for second. They were followed by Daredevil Bull, Freddymo Factor, and Sniff.
Gone and Forgotten, a homebred daughter of New York sire Bustin Stones who races for Barry Schwartz's Stonewall Farm, improved her career mark to 17-11-2-2 with earnings of $226,865. She is trained by Michael S. Ferraro.
All but one of Gone and Forgotten’s starts have come at Finger Lakes, where she is now a three-time stakes winner. In addition to her two wins in the Arctic Queen, Gone and Forgotten won the Jack Betta Be Rite Stakes last year. Perez, her regular rider, has been aboard for all of the stakes wins.
