Gone and Forgotten steps up to stakes in Jack Betta Be Rite

Gone and Forgotten, who has been a consistent competitor at Finger Lakes, will look to give them a reason to remember her name as she makes her stakes debut Monday in the $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Stakes for New York-bred fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles.
Gone and Forgotten, who races as a homebred for Barry Schwartz, has won 7 of 10 career starts at Finger Lakes, including twice from three outings at this distance, for trainer Michael Ferraro. The filly has had Luis Perez aboard for every one of her starts while preferring to race on or near the lead. She is well drawn to do so from post 2 in a field of eight, but could find plenty of company up front. Immediately to her inside and outside are two other pace factors in stakes-placed Love and Lace and Toolcat, who is 2 for 3 this year.
Kateri Empire has won three straight races locally at this distance for owner and trainer Joseph Cabrera. She does her best running from just off the pace and can watch Monday’s scenario develop after leaving from the outside post under Benjamin Hernandez.
Hannah Dances, stakes-placed against statebreds at both Finger Lakes and Saratoga for M. Anthony Ferraro, could be the one rallying late under Kevin Navarro if there is a speed meltdown.

The Jack Betta Be Rite is named after the gray Finger Lakes-based mare who, from 1989 to 1992, won 10 of 15 starts, including seven stakes at her home track and on the New York Racing Association circuit. That included the 1989 New York Breeders’ Futurity against males, one of the most important races at Finger Lakes.
Presque Isle Downs
There is additional action in the northeast region Monday with the $100,000 Satin and Lace Stakes for female sprinters on the synthetic track at Presque Isle Downs. The race is a local prep for the track’s Grade 2, $400,000 Presque Isle Masters on Sept. 19.
Club Car and Dynasty of Her Own are the two who come into this race with extensive stakes seasoning this year. Club Car has performed well on synthetic tracks, with three runner-up finishes including in the Grade 3 Chicago at Arlington Park last year and the Queen Stakes at Turfway earlier this year. She has been second in 5 of 6 starts this year while exclusively facing stakes competition, with her only unplaced effort coming in the Grade 1 Madison at Keeneland.
Dynasty of Her Own turned in multiple stakes placings earlier this year for Jonathan Wong in California, including a third-place finish in the Grade 3 Las Flores. Moved to Pennsylvania-based trainer Todd Beattie, she most recently finished sixth in the Grade 3 Hendrie on Woodbine’s synthetic track.
Cashable has won 2 of 3 starts for Brad Cox this year and was most recently third in her stakes debut, the Clarksville sprinting on the Indiana turf.
