Gomo out of BC Juvenile Fillies with ankle chip

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Gomo will miss the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies due to an ankle chip discovered after a routine gallop several days after she won the Grade 1 Alcibiades. She is scheduled for surgery at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington within the next several days.
“The prognosis is that she’ll be 100 percent,” trainer Doug O’Neill said by phone from Santa Anita. “She never took a sore step in her life, and now this, so we’ll just eagerly await bringing her back for a big 3-year-old campaign, and in the meantime, we have a pretty nice filly, Land Over Sea, to bring in from the bullpen for the Juvenile Fillies.”
Land Over Sea has been Grade 1-placed in each of her last two starts, finishing third in the Del Mar Debutante and second in the Chandelier at Santa Anita, beaten both times by the undefeated Songbird.

Limousine Liberal eyes BC Sprint
The defections last week of defending champion Work All Week and multiple Grade 1 winner Rock Fall from the BC Sprint were almost certain to bring additional challengers into the race, one of whom will be the Grade 1-placed Limousine Liberal.
Trainer Ben Colebrook all but committed him to the BC Sprint a short while after Limousine Liberal worked five furlongs in 59.60 seconds Friday at Keeneland. Limousine Liberal, a lightly raced son of Successful Appeal, had been targeting the $100,000 Perryville on the Breeders’ Cup undercard Oct. 31.
“If we can get in, right now, the plan is to run in the Sprint,” said Colebrook. “Originally, we were looking more at the Perryville, but there were a number of factors that went into making this decision, not the least of which were the fact both Rock Fall and Work All Week are out. I’m also very happy with where he is right now, and nobody knows this horse better than me. It’s also our home track. If we had to ship him somewhere else, we probably wouldn’t do it.”
Colebrook said he was very pleased with Limousine Liberal’s work Friday.
“I thought he worked great,” said Colebrook. “He was a lot kinder this morning than he has been at other times. He went off nice and easy and finished up very well.”
Colebrook said he has secured a commitment from John Velazquez to ride Limousine Liberal if he goes in the BC Sprint.
