ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Golden Vision upset the applecart in Saturday’s $100,000 Ballade at Woodbine when notching her first stakes in the four-horse sprint for Ontario-sired females. Golden Vision ($14.90) trailed going down the backstretch about three lengths off leading Spanish Ballerina, who had the favored 2019 Canadian champion female sprinter Summer Sunday breathing down her neck before the turn. Summer Sunday assumed command entering the stretch and opened up a clear lead while seemingly headed for victory. However, Golden Vision mounted a wide bid in the final furlong and wore down Summer Sunday late to prevail by a half-length, in a posted time of 1:10.75 for the six furlongs. Spanish Ballerina faded to third, and Sav was fourth. The scratches of Artie’s Princess and Ishiyaya led to win, place, and exacta wagering only. :: Get Daily Racing Form Past Performances – the exclusive home of Beyer Speed Figures Omar Moreno rode Golden Vision for trainer Tino Attard. “I thought I actually had a really good chance of winning this race,” Moreno said. “There was a lot of speed. Last time when we won with her, she was sitting way off of it, and she made a huge run. If I got a little bit closer to the pace today, I thought she had a really good chance of winning.” A 5-year-old daughter of Court Vision, Golden Vision earned $63,000 for owners Gordon and Elizabeth Lickrish. “She had been training really good,” Attard said. “I thought we’d give her a shot.”
