Golden Gate cancels Albany

Golden Gate Fields canceled Saturdays scheduled $50,000 Albany Stakes due to a lack of entries.

The six-furlong stakes race for fillies and mares would have been run with only four betting interests, with the Greg Gilchrist-trained High Resolve and Victorina running as a coupled entry. Only five runners entered the race.

Earlier in the week, connections for stakes winners Gadget Queen, Kalookan Dancer and Unspoken Word indicated they would run.

Golden Gate Fields officials said the Albany would not be rescheduled, but they would try to offer a high-level allowance race in its place in the upcoming weeks.
