Golden Gate: Bonfante rallies to win

Bonfante ($10.80) sat well off an early speed duel and pulled away from the dueling leaders to win his third straight Northern California stakes race, the Oakland Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

Ridden by Frank Alvarado, Bonfante rallied three wide on the turn and stayed wide as he shifted into passing gear to go in front. Black Seventeen was second, 1 1/2 lengths behind Bonfante, who covered six furlongs in 1:09.57. Vicarino was another length farther back.
