Going Global has American Oaks on agenda

DEL MAR, Calif. – In a season that included five stakes wins, all against 3-year-olds, Going Global handled a new assignment in Saturday’s Grade 2 Goldikova Stakes at a mile on turf at Del Mar.
Going Global beat older fillies and mares in her first race outside of age-group competition, closing from fifth to win by 1 1/2 lengths over Zofelle.
Going Global’s stakes wins this year ranged in distance from six furlongs to 1 1/8 miles. She might get another new test in the Grade 1 American Oaks on turf on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita, which would be her first try at 1 1/4 miles.
“She’s steadily on the improve,” trainer Phil D’Amato said Sunday.
An Irish import last winter, Going Global has won 6 of 7 starts, all stakes, and has earned $640,000 this year for the ownership group of Michael Dubb, Saul Gevertz, Michael Nentwig, Ray Pagano, and John Rochfort.
The American Oaks will be followed by a vacation, D’Amato said.
“We can run her there, give her a well-deserved break, and come back next year,” he said.
