Go West Marie might be finished racing
Go West Marie, the winner of four stakes in the last year, may have run her last race.
Trainer Eddie Truman said recently that Go West Marie has sustained an injury that could lead to her being retired at the end of this year and sold as a broodmare prospect. Truman did not disclose the injury.
“We might put her in the broodmare sale or bring her back,” he said. “We’ll see how she looks in a few months.”
Owned by Peter Redekop, the 4-year-old Go West Marie has won 7 of 20 starts and earned $557,520. Her four stakes wins have come in stakes for California-bred females – the Fleet Treet Stakes at Del Mar last July and the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Turf Sprint, Irish O’Brien Stakes, and Fran’s Valentine Stakes, all at Santa Anita since late January.
