Go On Mary likely to target CERF Stakes after Daisycutter win

DEL MAR, Calif. – Go On Mary ran fourth in a $50,000 claimer at Santa Anita in January. She may leave Del Mar at the end of the summer as a multiple stakes winner.
Go On Mary won her first stakes in Friday’s $81,330 Daisycutter Handicap at five furlongs on turf for fillies and mares. Her next objective may be the $75,000 CERF Stakes for fillies and mares at six furlongs on Sept. 3, according to trainer Doug O’Neill.
The CERF Stakes may be the next time Go On Mary is seen at Del Mar.
By Saturday morning, Go On Mary was back with O’Neill’s division at San Luis Rey Downs, where she is based. The race and the journey across the county and back did little to affect her energy, O’Neill said.
“She ate her dinner last night,” he said.
Go On Mary ($22.20) led throughout the Daisycutter under jockey Rafael Bejarano, holding off 8-5 favorite Okinawa to win by a half-length in 55.94 seconds. The Daisycutter was Go On Mary’s second win on turf.
A 4-year-old filly owned by Jack McShane, Go On Mary won a starter allowance at six furlongs on dirt here last November.
