Go Forth North injured after finishing third in Robert Frankel

Go Forth North was diagnosed with a fractured shin after finishing third in the Grade 2 Robert Frankel Stakes at Santa Anita on Saturday, trainer A.C. Avila said.

Go Forth North was third in the field of four throughout the race over 1 1/8 miles on turf and finished 1 1/4 lengths behind race winner Spring Style. Spring Style finished a nose in front of the 1-5 favorite Harmonious.

Avila said that Go Forth North will have a screw inserted in the shin to stabilize the injury. The 4-year-old Go Forth North has won 3 of 13 starts and $219,164. Owned by a partnership, Go Forth North won two stakes last year – the Sandy Blue Handicap at Del Mar in August and Grade 3 Harold Ramser Stakes at Hollywood Park.

A filly by North Light, Go Forth North was third in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Hollywood Park in late November.
