Global View on track for Belmont Derby start

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – Global View, after working five furlongs on Polytrack in 1:01.40 on Sunday, traveled by van to Belmont Park on Monday and is on track to start Saturday in the $1.25 million Belmont Derby.
“Everything went good,” said trainer Tom Proctor.
Global View has been based at Arlington since finishing second to Bobby’s Kitten in the $400,000 Penn Mile on May 31, but even with Global View racing out of town, Proctor and owner Glen Hill Farm could have a runner in the July 12 American Derby. Proctor confirmed Tuesday that the filly Ceisteach, who also worked five-eighths (1:01.60) Sunday on Polytrack, is a strong candidate to face males in that race. Istanford, another filly, won the first leg of Arlington’s Mid-America Triple, the Arlington Classic.
“She’s been training well, so we’ll see,” Proctor said. “We’re kind of planning on running. She ran a big race last time, and sometimes you have to be careful with them after that.”
The Irish-bred Ceisteach was purchased privately by Glen Hill and Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine from owner-trainer-breeder Jim Bolger. By New Approach, Ceisteach won one of four starts in Ireland while running on soft or heavy ground. While racing on firm turf June 7 in her U.S. debut, Ceisteach overwhelmed first-level allowance foes at Arlington.
“It’s hard to say how much she beat, but visually, that looked pretty good,” Proctor said.
