Global Tote, one of the three major bet-processing companies in the United States, has launched an account-wagering service using the brand of Monmouth Park in New Jersey, the two companies have announced. The new advanced-deposit wagering operation, or ADW, is a major foray by Global Tote into the account-wagering market. The operation, called Monmouthbets, is currently available to residents of Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, Global Tote said. Global Tote said in a press release that it expected the operation to be available in additional states as the company seeks approval over the course of the next year. Monmouthbets is not yet available in New Jersey, where a series of agreements and regulations have complicated the ADW market. According to Dennis Drazin, chief executive of Monmouth’s operating company, the new Global Tote ADW is expected to go live in New Jersey later this year. Global Tote is Monmouth’s bet-processing partner. “It’s their operation completely on the national level,” Drazin said. “What we did was sign an agreement that gave them our brand name.” Under an agreement signed in mid-2024, the New York Racing Association’s account-wagering company, NYRABets, obtained the ADW rights to Thoroughbred racing in New Jersey. But the official launch of the operation has been delayed due to New Jersey regulations surrounding an in-state hub to take the bets, according to Drazin. In the meantime, FanDuel, the online gambling company, continues to operate 4NJBets, which is the only ADW in New Jersey authorized to take bets from New Jersey residents. Once the NYRA operation is launched, NYRA will be free to strike agreements with other ADWs that will allow those companies to also take bets in New Jersey. “We hope a dozen companies are going to be coming in,” Drazin said. Under regulations in force prior to 2024, only one company was allowed to take bets from New Jersey residents. Global Tote said that its ADW is “designed with both casual fans and experienced bettors in mind,” and it said that the operation would offer customers proprietary handicapping tools and free past performances. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
