Tom Keyser Global Power will be making his first start in seven months in Presque Isle Downs' Monday feature.

Global Power, who won $100,000 stakes going two turns on turf each of the last two seasons, will try to prove he can be equally effective sprinting on a synthetic surface when he returns from a seven-month layoff in Monday’s $44,000 feature at Presque Isle Downs.

The 5 1/2-furlong no-conditions allowance drew a field of eight older horses and goes as race 5 at 7:05 p.m. Eastern.

As a 4-year-old in 2012, Global Power won back-to-back $100,000 turf stakes at Louisiana Downs and Delaware Park. His lone victory in six outings last year came in the $100,000 West Virginia Speaker’s Cup at Mountaineer.

A year ago, Global Power recorded identical Beyer Speed Figures of 86 going 5 1/2 furlongs on turf in the $100,000 Arlington Sprint and the Grade 3 Woodford at Keeneland. His trainer, Jeff Radosevich, is 9 for 21 (43 percent) with sprinters returning from a break of more than 180 days at Presque Isle.

Dazzled Saint owns 10 wins in 21 lifetime starts at Presque Isle, including a victory at the precise distance and conditions as Monday’s race in his last start of 2013. But he has disappointed his backers each of the last two years when he has returned from a long layoff, finishing third as the 6-5 favorite last May and second as the 8-5 choice in his 2012 bow.

Super Chunky was good enough to outrun his 14-1 odds to finish second in last September’s $250,000 Presque Isle Mile. Most of his good performances have come going long, although he did win a 5 1/2-furlong turf sprint at Laurel Park in November.

Evil Doer and Juke Joint, a coupled entry for trainer Lance Stokes, both will be running for the first time since September. In three starts following long breaks, Evil Doer shows a win and a neck loss in his 2013 debut last June. Juke Joint also won his first start of 2013 following a lengthy absence, albeit against $5,000 claimers.

Taylor Rice will come in from New York to ride Triple Cross for her brother Kevin Rice. As a 3-year-old last season, Triple Cross was second in the $100,000 Tom Ridge at Presque Isle and third behind Dazzled Saint and Evil Doer in an allowance sprint.
