Trainer Mark Glatt could have as many as three runners in Saturday’s Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar. Glatt said Wednesday that he plans to start the Grade 1 winners Collusion Illusion and Dr. Schivel and the multiple stakes winner Law Abidin Citizen in the $300,000 Crosby Stakes at six furlongs. Collusion Illusion won the 2020 Bing Crosby and has not raced since a third-place finish in the Grade 1 Malibu Stakes for 3-year-olds at seven furlongs on Dec. 26 at Santa Anita. Collusion Illusion has worked five furlongs in 58.80 seconds and six furlongs in 1:13.60 recently at Del Mar. Those works swayed Glatt to enter Collusion Illusion in the Bing Crosby. “He’s had two solid workouts down here,” Glatt said. “He’s always been a very good work horse.” :: Visit DRF's Del Mar shop for all your handicapping needs: Past performances, picks, Clocker Reports, Betting Strategies, and more Glatt cautioned that Collusion Illusion might not run if he draws an inside post. Dr. Schivel won his final start of 2020 in the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity last September when trained by Luis Mendez. Dr. Schivel joined Glatt’s stable shortly after that race and was rested through the fall and winter. Dr. Schivel won an allowance race at six furlongs on June 18 at Santa Anita in his only start for Glatt. Law Abidin Citizen won the Oak Tree Sprint at the Alameda County Fair in Pleasanton on July 3 for his third stakes win. “He always seems to show up with a good strong effort,” Glatt said. Leading rider Flavien Prat rode Dr. Schivel in the allowance race and has the mount Saturday. Tyler Baze will ride Collusion Illusion, who was ridden by Prat in 2020. A rider had not been finalized for Law Abidin Citizen. :: Join DRF Bets and play the races with a $250 First Deposit Bonus. Click to learn more.
