Gladyousawme remains perfect with Louisiana Legacy win
Gladyousawme remained undefeated in three starts Saturday night at Delta Downs, where he became a stakes winner after wiring his rivals in the $150,000 Louisiana Legacy.
Gladyousawme won by 1 1/2 lengths over Jimmy Creed. It was another three-quarters of a length back to Pound for Pound in third.
The Louisiana Legacy was a mile race for 2-year-olds bred in Louisiana.
Gladyousawme ($4.40) broke well from his rail post and proceeded to dictate the early terms, taking the field through an opening quarter in 24.11 seconds and a half-mile in 49.25. Gladyousawme came under pressure from Jimmy Creed through six furlongs in 1:14.48, but found more in the later stages and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:40.50.
Roberto Morales was aboard for trainer Brad Cox.
Gladyousawme won his debut in a maiden special weight at a mile on turf Sept. 27 at Indiana, then turned up at Delta and won a first-level allowance Oct. 28. He is a son of Due Date and races for his breeders, Klein Racing.
** Earlier on the card, Grade 3 winner Great Minds ($8.60) won an allowance in his first start since May. Mobile Bay, the reigning Louisiana-bred of the Year, was scratched from the race, which would have been his first start since February. Al Stall Jr., who won four races on opening day at Fair Grounds on Saturday, trains Great Minds for Vince Wilfork. The horse was ridden by Morales.
** Racing resumes at Delta on Tuesday, with a special daytime post of 1:35 p.m. Central.
