Girvin moves to Kentucky, will stand at Airdrie Stud

Off a strong start to his freshman season, Grade 1 winner Girvin has been "called up" from Florida to the Kentucky stallion ranks, the epicenter of the American breeding industry and where he will have access to additional high-quality mares to continue his ascent.
Girvin, by Tale of Ekati, entered stud in 2019 at Ocala Stud, in a partnership between that farm's O'Farrell family; the Jones family of Airdrie Stud; and the Grand Oaks Farm of Brad and Misty Grady, who campaigned Girvin on the track. He will now stand the 2023 season at Airdrie in Midway, Ky.
“We had great belief in Girvin’s potential as a stallion, but just as importantly, we knew that every partner was going to be pulling in the same direction to give the him the greatest possible chance," Airdrie's Bret Jones said. "Ocala Stud have done a fantastic job both supporting and promoting the horse, and the commitment that Brad has made has been extraordinary. He deserves every bit of good luck that comes his way.

"As for Girvin, he’s been tipping his hand since his first foals hit the ground. He throws beautiful babies, had a monster juvenile sales season, and I think his 2-year-olds have been as impressive on the track as any first-season stallion in America. He’s giving every indication that he can be a big-time Kentucky stallion, and we couldn’t be more excited about him.”
Girvin's career was highlighted by victories in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational, Grade 2 Louisiana Derby, and Grade 2 Risen Star in 2017. He is the sire of 12 first-crop winners, led by the exciting Damon's Mound, winner of his first two starts, including the Grade 2 Saratoga Special last month, by a combined 15 3/4 lengths.
He is also the sire of Devious Dame, winner of the Astoria Stakes in June at Belmont; and Apocalypso, third in the Florida Sire Series Affirmed Stakes last weekend in Florida.
