Gimme Da Lute might run in Pennsylvania Derby

DEL MAR, Calif. – Gimme Da Lute might be bound for Pennsylvania after winning his fourth stakes of the year in the $200,000 Real Good Deal Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds last Sunday.

Trainer Bob Baffert said on Thursday that Gimme Da Lute is a candidate for the $1 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing on Sept. 19.

This year, Gimme Da Lute has won two stakes for statebreds and two graded stakes in Southern California. Gimme Da Lute won the Echo Eddie Stakes for California-bred sprinters at Santa Anita in early April and the Grade 3 Affirmed Stakes there in early June. He won the most prestigious race of his career in the $350,000 Los Alamitos Derby at 1 1/8 miles on July 4. The Pennsylvania Derby is run at 1 1/8 miles.

Owned by Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman, Gimme Da Lute has won 5 of 8 starts and earned $567,560.
