Gierkink's Woodbine horses to watch for week of June 22
LONDIE LOU
Trainer: Sam DiPasquale
Last race: June 20, 1st
Finish: 2nd by 3/4
Beyer: 65
She broke inward from post 1 before rallying stoutly at first asking in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race for juvenile fillies, after which she galloped out far in front. The Pennsylvania-bred by Langfuhr is bred to run on.
OAKTON
Trainer: Mark Casse
Last race: June 20, 7th
Finish: 4th by 1 1/2
Beyer: 77
He lacked room along the inside in the stretch of an allowance route before missing third by a neck after finding some space. The son of Macho Uno has been on the improve from a Beyer Speed Figure perspective and should clear the first allowance condition sooner than later.
WHO’S GOT IT
Trainer: Mike De Paulo
Last race: June 17, 1st
Finish: 4th by 4 1/2
Beyer: 32
He gave the others about a five-length head-start after breaking outward and then took the long way around when he debuted in an Ontario-sired maiden special weight dash for 2-year-olds. He should be better for the experience, especially since his trainer excels with second-timers.
