Gierkink's preview: One Destiny scratches
Friday, June 6, preview
One Destiny out of the fifth race
Morning-line favorite One Destiny will scratch from the fifth race in favor of a nine-furlong allowance Sunday that could be his prep for the July 6 Queen’s Plate.
After the defection of One Destiny, there is less speed in the 1 1/16-mile Ontario-sired allowance. It will be the first start around two turns for recent maiden breaker Lions Bay, a son of Sligo Bay who’s bred to run long and should be prominent from the outset.
Snowy Legacy also is experimenting over 1 1/16 miles off a maiden victory traveling six furlongs. The June foal by two-time Santa Anita Handicap winner Milwaukee Brew is the first foal from the versatile stakes winner London Snow, whose limit was seven furlongs. Snowy Legacy should be up close early in his second start with Lasix.
Dance Again tops feature
Dance Again is hard to go past in the seventh, a 1 1/16-mile second-level optional claimer on grass. After notching the Carotene Stakes here Oct. 12, she checked in third in the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere at Churchill and then got the winter off before running fifth in her season opener in a tough optional claimer at Keeneland.
Other contenders include Black Bird Rock, Players Club, and the probable pacemaker, Hobnobsnob.
