ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Breeder Ivan Dalos, Eclipse champion Ghostzapper, and trainer Mike Doyle are among the 2025 inductees into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

Thoroughbred builder inductee Ivan Dalos has been a successful owner-breeder for nearly 50 years. His Tall Oaks Farm bred Belmont victor Victory Gallop along with other Grade 1 winners Channel Maker and Kopion, who is currently among the top sprinters in North America. He also campaigned the Grade 1-winning turfer Fly for Avie. At the 2021 Sovereign Awards ceremony, he was bestowed the E.P. Taylor Award of Merit for his many contributions to the sport.

Female Thoroughbred inductee Marketing Mix banked just over $2 million. Her career highlights included victories in the Grade 1 Rodeo Drive, the Grade 2 Nassau, and the Grade 2 Dance Smartly, all in 2012. She also ran second in the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.

Jockey inductee Perry Winters commenced his career in 1980 and was a top rider in Alberta for 33 years. He won 2,984 thoroughbred races, including the 1983 Canadian Derby on Cozy Grey, and his mounts banked $22.5 million.

Thoroughbred male horse inductee Ghostzapper captured the 2004 Breeders’ Cup Classic, which catapulted him to Horse of the Year honors in North America that year. Now standing at stud in Ontario, he has sired Queen’s Plate winners Moira, Holy Helena, and Shaman Ghost.

Thoroughbred trainer inductee Mike Doyle conditioned Canadian champions Bessarabian and Wavering Girl, along with Wild Gale, who finished third in the 1993 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. He has won 1,172 races and has career earnings of nearly $44 million.

Thoroughbred veteran inductee Storm Bird was champion 2-year-old in England and Ireland in 1980 before embarking on a highly successful stallion career. He sired classic winner Summer Squall and Storm Cat, one of the leading North American sires of all time. He was also a tremendous broodmare sire.

The 2025 inductees on the Standardbred side are Brad Grant, Kent Oakes, Dave Briggs, John Bax, Muscle Mass, and Yankee Paco.

A 20-person election committee for each breed determined the inductees. The CHRHF Class of 2025 will be formally inducted Aug. 6.
