Getmotherarose looks to keep her Belmont win streak alive

ELMONT, N.Y. – Getmotherarose is built on the smallish side, but lately she’s gotten big on winning. Thursday she will aim for her fourth victory in her last five starts in an $80,000 second-levelallowance/optional $62,500 claimer on turf that goes as the feature on Belmont’s eight-race card.
Getmotherarose, a 3-year-old daughter of Get Stormy trained by Tom Bush, is coming off a three-length victory in her preliminary allowance condition. That was her third straight win at Belmont Park – she has a third-place finish in a race at Saratoga mixed in. Her Belmont wins were at six furlongs. Thursday’s race is seven furlongs.
“I think it’s perfect – I like it,” Bush said. “She ran 7 1/2 at Gulfstream going two turns and ran with a nice finish to her. I think the seven-eighths will be fine for her. Jose’s very pleased with this filly. He likes her quite a bit.”
Bush was referring to Jose Ortiz, who was aboard for Getmotherarose’s last two victories.
Last Thursday, Getmotherarose, worked a solid half-mile in 47.78 seconds, though she did have the wind at her back through the lane, which enabled her to go a final quarter of 23.72 seconds.
Getmotherarose has a stalking style that should enable to sit off of Kitten’s Covergirl and potentially I’llhandalthecash.
Rose Flower, a German-bred trained by Christophe Clement, drops into allowance company after finishing third behind Turf War in the Christiecat Stakes over yielding turf here on opening day of the meet. That was her first start in the U.S. and first for trainer Christophe Clement.
“It took a while to get Americanized, but she’s a nice filly – I like her,” Clement said.
In the Christiecat, “I thought she ran well. She made a good move, flattened out a touch. I thought she behaved well.”
Manny Franco rides Rose Flower from post 6.
Go Noni Go, who won the Bourbonette Oaks over Turfway Park’s synthetic surface in March 2018, drops back into allowance company for the first time since she won a first-level allowance at Gulfstream by six lengths on Dec. 24, 2017.
Go Noni Go has raced only once this year, that being a last-place finish in the All Along Stakes at Laurel on Sept. 28.
Joel Rosario rides Go Noni Go from the outside post.
I’llhandalthecash has won two of her three starts this year, including a second-level allowance at Saratoga on Sept. 1 that produced next-out winner Honey I’m Good. She is stretching out form 5 1/2 to seven furlongs in this spot.
Psalmody won a $35,000 claimer going a mile by 4 1/4 lengths last out for trainer Joe Sharp, who has the mare in for $62,500 on Thursday.
Posse Needed has toiled in this condition for 16 months. New Year’s Wish is entered to run only if the race is moved to the main track.
