Get Serious takes advantage in Alysheba

Get Serious posted a mild upset in Friday night's $65,000 Alysheba Stakes at the Meadowlands as Cuba, the 4-5 favorite, turned in a dull effort and beat only one horse.

Get Serious, the 3-1 second choice in the six-horse field, pressed the early pace while three wide, took command on the far turn of the 1 1/16-mile race, and came home a 4 3/4-length winner. Seven-year-old Judiths Wild Rush raced forwardly throughout to finish second, 8 1/2 lengths ahead of Real Merchant in third. Cuba, who was coming off a win in the Maryland Million Classic, trailed early and then failed to fire.

Get Serious, trained by John Forbes and ridden by Pablo Fragoso, scored his third win of the year. He paid $8.60 and was timed in 1:41.37 over a sloppy track.
