ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Get Rhythm caught the 1-2 favorite from Chicago, Amira J, in deep stretch to take the $140,000 Ontario Debutante Stakes under Eurico Da Silva at Woodbine on Sunday. Get Rhythm ($11.90) stalked in third along the inside in the six-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies as Un Po Di Vino led the way while being pressed by Amira J. Da Silva angled Get Rhythm wide early in the stretch, and she mowed down Amira J in the final strides to prevail by a half-length in 1:10.82. Londie Lou finished another nose back in third in the five-horse field. After finishing a fading fifth as the favorite in the Shady Well Stakes, Get Rhythm made her first start on Lasix in the Debutante. She earned $90,000 for a partnership that includes breeder Anderson Farm. “Maybe the Lasix helped settle her a little more so that she did settle off the pace,” said trainer Catherine Day Phillips. “The fractions were a little easier. She just seemed more relaxed in general today. She was a little more confident than she was. I think she’s got it going now.”
