Get Rhythm looks to bounce back in Debutante
ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Get Rhythm faded in the final stages of the restricted Shady Well Stakes on July 12 and will be looking for a better result against open company in Sunday’s $125,000 Ontario Debutante Stakes over six furlongs on Polytrack.
The Ontario Debutante has attracted a field of just five 2-year-old fillies, including three shippers.
Get Rhythm stalked and pounced in the stretch to find the winner’s circle in her career debut June 20 but dueled through quick fractions in the Shady Well, eventually finishing fifth. Caren, the winner of the Shady Well, came out of that event to win the Nandi Stakes against Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies last Monday.
Key Contenders
Get Rhythm (Last 2 Beyers: 60-68)
She appears to be working well since the Shady Well and will add Lasix for the first time.
There appears to be other speed in the race, so she might be better suited with a stalking trip like in her career debut.
Amira J (Last Beyer: 87)
She’s likely to take money off a 14-length maiden score on Polytrack at Arlington Park on July 3, when she earned an 87 Beyer Speed Figure.
DRF FORMULATOR FACT: Trainer Michael Stidham has won four of his 23 starts when shipping to Woodbine in the past five years, with a return on investment of $0.87.
Londie Lou (Last 2 Beyers: 67-65)
She was gaining late in her career debut June 20, but Get Rhythm got the jump on her to the wire in that 4 1/2-furlong sprint.
In her victory July 18, she was much closer to the early pace and surged to the lead in the final furlong. She should have speed to chase in here and should appreciate the extra distance.
Un Po Di Vino (Last Beyer: 53)
She has drawn the rail but did win from this position in her first start at Monmouth Park on June 26.
She went to the lead that day and likely will have company on the front end if she decides to employ those tactics once again.
Office Drama (Last Beyer: 33)
She was placed first in her career debut on synthetic at Presque Isle Downs on June 14 after being forced out in the stretch. Despite the low Beyer from that first start, she appears to be working well in preparation for this start.
Trainer Adam Rice has not won with three 2-year-old non-graded stakes starters at Woodbine in the past two seasons, according to DRF Formulator.
