Get Happy Mister will stay in California

ARCADIA, Calif. – Get Happy Mister, the winner of the Grade 3 San Simeon Stakes at Santa Anita on April 19, has remained with trainer Mark Tsagalakis in Southern California for an expected start at Los Alamitos or Del Mar in the coming months.
After the San Simeon, owner Annette Brown of Lakewood, Colo., indicated that Get Happy Mister would race at Arapahoe Park in that state this summer. Tsagalakis said on Friday that the plan was changed, but that he is taking a patient approach with Get Happy Mister.
“We might take a look at a race at Del Mar,” he said. “The race took a lot out of him.”
Get Happy Mister won his first graded stakes in the San Simeon, giving the 52-year-old Tsagalakis his first stakes win. Tsagalakis has leading contender Oliver’s Tale in Sunday’s Siren Lure Stakes at Santa Anita.
A 5-year-old gelding, Get Happy Mister has won 11 of 14 starts and $384,928, record earnings for a Colorado-bred. He won eight stakes at Arapahoe Park and Oaklawn Park earlier in his career.
