Geroux’s breakthrough year continues

Florent Geroux’s breakthrough year continues unabated. In addition to winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on Catch a Glimpse and the Turf Sprint aboard Mongolian Saturday, the 29-year-old Frenchman won the Fort Springs Stakes aboard 10-1 shot Meshell as darkness began to envelop Keeneland on Breeders’ Cup Saturday.
Geroux then rode nine of the 10 races here Sunday, with an explosive score by Unexplained as his lone winner. Through the weekend, his 2015 mount earnings stood at $9,253,732, which ranks 11th among all North American jockeys and the most for any rider not based in New York or Southern California. Julien Leparoux is right behind Geroux in 12th with $9,115,967.
Leparoux will ride here through the end of the meet Nov. 29 before heading to Florida for the winter, while Geroux will ride here through Nov. 15 before heading to Fair Grounds.
“I’m guessing we’ll probably be back for the big races on Thanksgiving weekend,” said Doug Bredar, Geroux’s agent.
