LEXINGTON, Ky. – Florent Geroux, recovered from serious injuries from a Sept. 10 fall, is set to resume race-riding sometime next week.
Geroux has been riding horses in morning workouts for several days and is ready to start accepting mounts again, he said Wednesday morning.
Geroux broke six ribs and spent more than a week in the hospital while doctors monitored fluid in his chest after his horse broke down catastrophically during a maiden race at Churchill Downs.
Geroux, 40, saw his business dip during 2025 but was having a bounce-back year when he was injured. He’d picked up momentum on the Kentucky circuit and was getting steady business from trainer Bob Baffert. Geroux rode the Baffert-trained 2-year-old Salahudin, a runner in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, to victories in the horse’s first two races and was named to ride the colt Sept. 12 in the Iroquois Stakes, which Salahudin won.
