Geroux flies in to work Bolo for Del Mar Mile

DEL MAR, Calif. - Bolo, the winner of the Grade 1 Shoemaker Mile at Santa Anita on May 27, worked five furlongs on turf in 1:01.60 at Del Mar on Thursday under jockey Florent Geroux, who flew to California specifically for the workout.
Bolo is expected to start in the Grade 2 Del Mar Mile on turf on Aug. 18.

Geroux, who is riding at Ellis Park, was visiting Las Vegas and made the short flight to partner Bolo, trainer Carla Gaines said. Gaines timed the workout in 1:02.
Bolo, 7, earned an automatic berth to the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita on Nov. 2 with his win in the Shoemaker Mile.
This will be a busy week for Geroux. He is booked to ride at Ellis Park on Friday and Arlington Park on Saturday.
In another notable work on Thursday, Mucho Gusto went five furlongs in 1:00.80 for a scheduled start in the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing on Sept. 21. Trained by Bob Baffert, Mucho Gusto was second in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park on July 20.
