Georgian: OSS Gold Series in the spotlight on Tuesday

Greg Reinhart|Aug 08, 2023

Two-year-old trotters of both sexes paid a visit to Georgian Downs on Tuesday night for Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series competition.

Willys Home Run (James MacDonald) led through fractions of 29 3/5, 59 1/5 and 1:28 on her way to a 4 1/4 length victory in 1:56 1/5 in the first C$100,400 division for the fillies. Now with a record of 3-1-0 from four starts and earnings of C$157,300, Willys Home Run is trained by Kyle Fellows for co-owner/breeder Reg Higgs and co-owners Dr. Sara Gatchell, Jake Higgs and Yolanda Fellows. The daughter of Archangel paid $3.20 to win.

32-1 shot Willowtime (Bob McClure) minded his manners while six of the other horses broke and won the opening $103,100 clash for the colts and geldings by ten lengths in 1:58 after carving out panels of 28 4/5, 57 4/5 and 1:27 2/5. Willowtime, by Lookslikeachpndale, broke his maiden in his first start for co-owner/trainer Mark Etsell and co-owner/breeder Terry Devos and co-owner Peter Porter. He returned $67.70 to win.

No One (Bruce Richardson) was on the engine at the 30 second quarter, 1:00 1/5 half and 1:29 1/5 three-quarters in the second C$101,300 test for the fillies and held on in a 29 2/5 final kicker to tally by a head in 1:58 3/5. Richardson also bred and owns the winning Lookslikeachpndale filly who made her first appearance in the winner's circle and has now put away C$75,698. She paid $6.70 to win.
