Georgian: OSS Gold Series in the spotlight on Tuesday
Two-year-old trotters of both sexes paid a visit to Georgian Downs on Tuesday night for Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series competition.
Willys Home Run (James MacDonald) led through fractions of 29 3/5, 59 1/5 and 1:28 on her way to a 4 1/4 length victory in 1:56 1/5 in the first C$100,400 division for the fillies. Now with a record of 3-1-0 from four starts and earnings of C$157,300, Willys Home Run is trained by Kyle Fellows for co-owner/breeder Reg Higgs and co-owners Dr. Sara Gatchell, Jake Higgs and Yolanda Fellows. The daughter of Archangel paid $3.20 to win.
32-1 shot Willowtime (Bob McClure) minded his manners while six of the other horses broke and won the opening $103,100 clash for the colts and geldings by ten lengths in 1:58 after carving out panels of 28 4/5, 57 4/5 and 1:27 2/5. Willowtime, by Lookslikeachpndale, broke his maiden in his first start for co-owner/trainer Mark Etsell and co-owner/breeder Terry Devos and co-owner Peter Porter. He returned $67.70 to win.
No One (Bruce Richardson) was on the engine at the 30 second quarter, 1:00 1/5 half and 1:29 1/5 three-quarters in the second C$101,300 test for the fillies and held on in a 29 2/5 final kicker to tally by a head in 1:58 3/5. Richardson also bred and owns the winning Lookslikeachpndale filly who made her first appearance in the winner's circle and has now put away C$75,698. She paid $6.70 to win.

Soar Higher gave MacDonald another triumph when he rallied from fourth at the 1:28 1/5 three-quarters to first at the wire, scoring by a neck in 1:57 3/5 in the second C$102,200 battle for the boys. A gelded son of Resolve bred by Diane Ingham and Harry Rutherford, Soar Higher was sent out by trainer Matt Bax for owner Bax Stable, Brad Grant, Dave Hudson and Harbor Racing Stable LLC. He has a record of 1-2-1 from four efforts, has banked C$90,195 and returned $6.20 to win.
