Georgian Downs: Logan Park connects in Earl Rowe Memorial
Logan Park had to work hard to get past a stubborn Fashion Frenzie, but when the dust settled, he came away victorious from Sunday night's C$100,000 Earl Rowe Memorial Invitational for older trotters at Ontario's Georgian Downs.
With driver Doug McNair taking his usual seat behind him, Logan Park settled into the pocket behind Fashion Frenzie (Louis-Philippe Roy) to the 28 4/5 quarter but then came to the outside in an attempt to take the lead. Roy had other ideas, though, and drove on to put Logan Park, the 1-5 favorite, back into the two-hole prior to the 56 3/5 half-mile marker.
Fashion Frenzie and Roy backed down three-quarters to just 1:26 3/5, but McNair took another run at him with Logan Park passing that marker, and the two would duel again on the last turn. This time, Logan Park got the better of Fashion Frenzie, as he finally forged his way by in the lane and went on to score by a length and a quarter in 1:54 2/5. Fashion Frenzie did hold second from a late-gaining Amigo Volo (Travis Cullen).
