Georgian Downs: Dancer Hall waltzes home in Earl Rowe Invitation Trot

Dancer Hall came into tonight's $75,000 Earl Rowe Invitation Trot at Georgian Downs with first- or second-place finishes in 12 straight races, and that would become 13 consecutive events after he won the race in 1:52 2/5.
Driven by Sylvain Filion, Dancer Hall came on from the pocket to take the lead away from Big Rich (Alfie Carroll) past the 28-second opening quarter. Dancer Hall would then hit the half in 56 2/5 before Warrawee Roo (Bob McClure) attacked him from first-over. Warrawee Roo got to within a neck of Dancer Hall at the 1:24 three-quarters, but Dancer Hall kicked away from him and the rest of the field around the far turn and through the lane as he would win by 4 3/4 lengths. B Yoyo (Chris Christoforou) was the runner-up, with Catch The Dream (Colin Kelly) back in third.
The 4-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe is trained by Paul Reid for owner 1187422 Ontario Ltd. This was Dancer Hall's 16th career win, and he has now earned C$273,150. He was the 6-5 second choice and paid $4.60 to win.
There was also a C$125,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series event for 3-year-old pacing fillies on the card, and it would go to Write Me A Song in a track record 1:51.
Paul MacDonell had Write Me A Song on top through stations of 26 3/5, 55 1/5, and 1:22 2/5, and although she tired late in the mile, she found the wire a neck ahead of Quints Dream (Joe Hudon). Neon Moon (Jason Ryan) was third from the pocket, giving trainer Jack Darling the first- and third-place finishers in the dash.
Darling also owns Write Me A Song, a daughter of Sportswriter. She is now a 10-time winner in her life, and she pushed her bankroll to C$246,212. She was the 3-2 second choice and returned $5.00 to win.
