Generous Touch never looks back in Eternal Search

Generous Touch wins the Eternal Search Stakes
Michael Burns Generous Touch earned her second straight stakes victory in Wednesday's Eternal Search at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Generous Touch got away with murder on the front end in the $125,000 Eternal Search, registering her second stakes victory in a row Wednesday at Woodbine.

Eurico Da Silva let Generous Touch roll after breaking from the outside post, and she proceeded to set very slow fractions in the 1 1/16-mile race, her first around two turns.

Pure Purity and the favored Sugar Jones both took a run at Generous Touch on the far turn, but she repelled those challenges and went on to score by two lengths in 1:46.86. She paid $9.10.

Pure Purity finished second over a closing Crumlin Spirit, as Sugar Jones faded to trail in the six-horse field of Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies.

Generous Touch, a daughter of Philanthropist, banked $75,000 for Howard Walton’s Norseman Racing Stable and trainer Sid Attard, who sent her out to win the Passing Mood Stakes on the grass July 2.

“It was beautiful,” said Da Silva. “Howie told me her mother used to take the lead at a mile and a sixteenth and just go all the way. I kept that in mind, and tried to do the same as her mother did. The daughter just ran like the mother.”
