Generous Portion next for My Fiona

DEL MAR, Calif. – Hours after My Fiona won Friday’s $100,000 California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Stakes at Del Mar, she was back at trainer Walther Solis’ base at Los Alamitos. The next time she is sent to Del Mar, she will try to confirm her status as the leading 2-year-old California-bred filly.
On Saturday, Solis said My Fiona will be pointed for the $150,000 Generous Portion Stakes over six furlongs for statebred fillies Aug. 27.
“If everything goes the way it is now, that’s what we’ll do,” he said.
My Fiona won her first stakes in the CTBA Stakes over 5 1/2 furlongs. Ridden by Fernando Perez, My Fiona fought off a threat from 3-5 Lost Bus in early stretch to win by a neck. My Fiona was timed in 1:04.90. Lost Bus finished 8 3/4 lengths clear of 44-1 Take Back Spring, who was third.
My Fiona, by Ghostzapper, races for a partnership that includes breeder Terry Lovingier, Tom Beckerle, and Amanda Navarro. My Fiona has earned $95,600. She was third against open company in the Landaluce Stakes over 5 1/2 furlongs June 22 at Santa Anita.
