Reigning Ohio-bred horse of the year Generous Lover got back in the win column with a dominant 6 3/4-length victory in the $75,000 Michael G. Mackey Memorial Angenora Stakes for female sprinters on Thursday at Thistledown.  Generous Lover, the runaway winner of the Best of Ohio Distaff to lock down her championship last year, was sent away favored in the Angenora despite owning just one win in five starts this year. That victory came in the Vivacious Stakes in July in her home state; she has competed both in Ohio and out of state against open company. Most recently, she was second by four lengths to multi-time Ohio-bred champion Candlelight Hours in the Best of Ohio Pay the Man.  Generous Lover, with Willie Martinez in the irons early for trainer Joe Sharp, had a facile early duel with City Scene, through opening splits of 23.09 seconds and 46.06. It was a futile effort by the game City Scene, however, as once Generous Lover was set down in the stretch, she was full of run and widened as she pleased. She finished the six furlongs in 1:10.37 and paid $5.40. City Scene was easily second-best, with Candlelight Hours checking in third this time, another 2 1/4 lengths back.  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
