Geaux Mets seeks back-to-back wins with Ontario County start

The $50,000 Ontario County Stakes at Finger Lakes on Saturday is a six-furlong sprint for 3-year-old New York-breds. It has not come up particularly strong horse-wise, but it has attracted runners from downstate trainers David Jacobson and Mike Hushion, each of whom has a winning record when shipping here.
Key Contenders
Geaux Mets (Last 3 Beyers: 83-70-84)
* Has won two of his last three starts for Jacobson, whose only stakes runner here in the last five years was Uncle T Seven, who won the George Barker Handicap in 2013 and paid $6.40.
* Jacobson sent Geaux Mets to Monmouth Park for his most recent start, and he won a restricted $40,000 claiming race. The 83 Beyer Speed Figure he earned in that race is eight points higher than anyone else’s last-race figure. Three starts back in April, he won an open first-level optional claimer at Aqueduct.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the last five years, Jacobson has a 6-for-13 record (46 percent) at Finger Lakes and a return on investment of $2.95.
The Rhythmisright (Last 3 Beyers: 75-85-85)
* Since scoring an 11 3/4-length win in a statebred first-level optional-claiming race at Aqueduct, The Rhythmisright has been stuck at the second level for four races. The 89 Beyer he earned for his March win is the highest lifetime figure in this field by five points.
* In his last start in early July, The Rhythmisright weakened after chasing a fast pace and finished fourth. He will be most dangerous in this field if he can make the lead, but he will have to outsprint Carolinian to do so, and Geaux Mets will not be very far behind.
DRF Formulator Fact: Hushion is 3 for 4 at Finger Lakes over the last five years – all in stakes – and has an ROI of $2.57. In his only Finger Lakes start this year, he won the Barker Handicap on May 26 with I’m Stoked.
