Game On Dude flies in work
ARCADIA, Calif. - Game On Dude worked six furlongs in 1:11 at Santa Anita on Sunday, his final major exercise before the $1.5 million Charles Town Classic in West Virginia on Saturday.
Jockey Martin Garcia worked Game On Dude for trainer Bob Baffert on Sunday, but Mike Smith will have the mount on the popular 7-year-old in the 1 1/8-mile Charles Town Classic.
Baffert said that Game On Dude galloped out seven furlongs in 1:25. “He looked awesome,” Baffert said.
A gelding, Game On Dude won the Santa Anita Handicap for a record third time on March 8. Game On Dude has won 16 of 31 starts and earned $6,163,893.
Saturday’s race will be Game On Dude’s third appearance at Charles Town. He was second in the 2011 race, and won the race last year.
The Santa Anita Handicap was Game On Dude’s first win since the Pacific Classic at Del Mar last August. He was ninth in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita last November when a victory would have meant the Horse of the Year title.
