Game Day Play rallies to take Clever Trevor Stakes

Owner Tom Durant continued his hot streak at Remington Park on Friday night, when his homebred Game Day Play became a stakes winner in the $60,000 Clever Trevor.
Durant is now 5 for 8 with his starters this meet at Remington.
The Clever Trevor was the final local stepping-stone to the $200,000 Springboard Mile, a Kentucky Derby points race to be run Dec. 20 at Remington.
Game Day Play ($11.80) broke last of all in the field of seven Friday and trailed through an opening quarter in 23.73 seconds and a half-mile in 47.91. He unleashed his bid into the stretch and was up for a head win over Red N Wild. It was another length back in third to Hulen.
Game Day Play covered seven furlongs on a fast track in a hand-timed 1:25.68.
Lindey Wade was aboard for trainer Bret Calhoun.

Game Day Play is a son of Violence who has now won 2 of 4 starts and earned $61,672.
Durant is a longtime owner and breeder and next weekend will be represented by Silver Dust in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
The card Friday was the first of the race week at Remington, which had to cancel both Wednesday and Thursday because a storm system left areas of the facility without power. The track is scheduled to race Saturday night and has a make-up card Sunday, with first post 7 p.m. Central.
