Gamble's Ghost being pointed for Rampart Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – About an hour after Ami’s Mesa was beaten a nose by Bar of Gold in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Del Mar on Nov. 4, trainer Josie Carroll and owner-breeder Ivan Dalos went from the agony of defeat to the thrill of victory as, back at Woodbine, Gamble’s Ghost won the Grade 3 Maple Leaf Stakes by three-quarters of a length.
It was the third consecutive win for the daughter of Ghostzapper, following an allowance score in October and the Belle Mahone Stakes in September.

With no stakes options remaining at Woodbine before the end of the meet on Dec. 10, Carroll said Gamble’s Ghost would likely make her next start in the Grade 3, $100,000 Rampart Stakes at Gulfstream Park over a one-turn mile on the dirt on Dec. 16.
Gamble’s Ghost has made one start on dirt, finishing fourth in a seven-furlong allowance at Keeneland back in April in her 2017 debut.
She’s breezed twice at Woodbine since winning the 1 1/4-mile Maple Leaf over Tapeta, with her most recent move a five-furlong breeze in 1:01.00 on Nov. 24.
