Galveston Harbor looks to break through in B-Connected
Galveston Harbor’s younger half-brother, Mobile Bay, has racked up the stakes wins this year, among his victories the Grade 2 Super Derby and the Zia Park Derby. But the spotlight could shift in Galveston Harbor’s direction Saturday night as he appears to be a chief player in the $65,000 B-Connected at Delta Downs.
The B-Connected is a 7 1/2-furlong race for 3-year-olds and up who have never won a stakes. The two-turn race is also restricted to horses bred in Louisiana.
Galveston Harbor has locked horns with his division’s best in his last two starts. He was third to String King in the off-the-turf Louisiana Legends Turf on July 4 at Evangeline Downs. One start prior, Galveston Harbor was second to The Pickett Factor in the $100,000 Gold Cup on Nov. 14 at Delta. Since that race, The Pickett Factor has won the $150,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic at Fair Grounds.
Delta is set to race Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday – each card with a special first post of 1:15 p.m. Central – in a calendar shift due to Christmas.
