Galina Point finishes second in the Bison City Stakes
Michael Burns Galina Point (#5) finishes second in the Bison City Stakes on July 12 at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The steady Galina Point should be a major player in Wednesday night’s $125,000 Eternal Search Stakes, a 1 1/16-mile event for Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine.

Galina Point was an astute private purchase last fall by high-profile owner Gary Barber. She captured the 1 1/16-mile South Ocean in November before running second to London Tower in another 1 1/16-mile stakes, the Ontario Lassie.

Galina Point was a close third behind London Tower in her second start off the bench May 3 in the Fury Stakes, and then won the seven-furlong Lady Angela Stakes by a head. She lacked room on the far turn before rallying for fifth in the June 14 Woodbine Oaks, and is exiting a nose loss to Brooklynsway in the second leg of the Canadian triple tiara, the 1 1/16-mile Bison City Stakes.

Patrick Husbands retains the mount on Galina Point, who hails from the powerful Mark Casse barn.

London Tower and Savanna City were both supplemented to the Eternal Search, which is carded as the sixth of eight races.

KEY CONTENDERS

Galina Point (Last 3 Beyers: 79-75-74)

◗ Her Lady Angela score will always be known as the final call for the popular Woodbine announcer Dan Loiselle, who retired that day.

London Tower (Last 3 Beyers: 78-81-79)

◗ She broke slowly in all three of her outings this year. After winning the Fury Stakes with an eye-catching wide bid in her season opener, she finished second in the rapidly run Oaks and third in the Bison City.

◗ Her trainer, Steve Owens, won the 1998 Eternal Search with Starlight Gazer.

Obeah Woman (Last 3 Beyers: 60-75-27)

◗ She looked like a world-beater while romping in her season debut, but then bounced when second in a tougher Ontario-sired optional-claiming route won by Clarkston Hope, who subsequently won an open allowance.

Internal Bourbon (Last 3 Beyers: 65-73-75)

◗ She came up empty in the Oaks after chasing the gate-to-wire winner, Academic, through quick fractions. Her previous form featured a daylight tally in an Ontario-sired allowance route for non-winners of two.

◗ Her esteemed trainer, Roger Attfield, won the 2010 Eternal Search with Jacally.

Miss Sea (Last 3 Beyers: 67-75-53)

◗ The fast-improving chestnut wound up third in her recent stakes debut on the grass in the Passing Mood. This will be her first start beyond seven furlongs, and the daughter of Marchfield is bred to run on.
