Galilean targets Golden State Juvenile

CYPRESS, Calif. – Galilean will stay in restricted company this fall after winning his career debut in Saturday’s $100,000 Barretts Juvenile at Los Alamitos.
The Barretts Juvenile was restricted to horses who went through sales conducted by Barretts. Galilean was purchased for $600,000 by West Point Thoroughbreds at the Barretts April sale of 2-year-olds in training, the most expensive horse at the sale.
On Sunday, trainer Jerry Hollendorfer said Galilean will be pointed for the $200,000 Golden State Juvenile for California-bred 2-year-old colts and geldings at Santa Anita on Nov. 3.
“We would look at that race, certainly,” Hollendorfer said.
“The West Point folks are very good about letting the trainers make a good path for their horses. They make suggestions, but they usually let us decide.”
By Uncle Mo, Galilean won the Barretts Juvenile by a neck under jockey Drayden Van Dyke after fighting for the lead throughout.
